When I came across this song by the twin duo (Ty and Trey Turner) called The Icarus Account, I couldn’t help, but think of lazy summer days. So this might be a bit off pace to what music is typically gracing the pages of CTT. However, since we have followers from all over and females are huge percentage of our following, I decided to focus on that niche right now. Just like Timeflies and their weekly Tuesday release, Icarus Account appointed Thursdays as their weekly release day. Last week Ty dished out and impromptu “Glad You Came” as he covered The Wanted’s chart topper. For more on the Turner brothers check them out on facebook as they close in on 50,000 fans.

This has got to be one of the funkiest music vids I have witnessed. I give props to whoever was able to get permission to use the strip club and strippers for the visuals. In order to enjoy the whole theme behind the track you have to watch it beginning to end. There is a twist that might be more surprising than that of Carly Rae Jepsens “Call Me Maybe” music video when the guy turns out to be gay (SPOILER). Months ago Jewish Reggae artist Matisyahu shed his iconic beard and has a whole new look. His latest track “Sunshine” may be his best yet and one of the most solid reggae tracks since dare I say Bob Marley. His new album is set to drop sometime in mid July and from the sound of this single, Matisyahu should have a very successful summer. He is also going to be quite busy with a tour as he teams up with fellow surf reggae band Dirty Heads and a few other similar artists such as Sublime with Rome and Pepper, to make one hell of a tour. Mashups for some are like happy meal toys. They are awesome the first time you hear them and then after that it’s forgotten about forever. Loo & Placido, two former musicians who got their start performing with various popular bands in France. Around 1999 Jeremy (Placido) and Laurent (Loo) met and combined their musical experiences to create Loo & Placido. As I glance over the cast starring in this latest L&P bootleg, one word comes to mind, diverse. Genres all over the map including dubstep, electro, rock, and hip-hop. This is the first and will absolutely not be the last Loo & Placido track I pleasure my ears to. This is mashup excellence and I am ashamed that I have never heard of these guys until now. So join me in welcoming Loo and Placido to your music libraries.

In his debut installment of “Massakerr Mondays,” DJ Massakerr dropped this Nadia Ali, Star Killers, & Alex Kenji vs. The Maine in this mashup of fluidity. The majority of the vocals you hear throughout the mash is brought to you by a band by the name of The Maine. They are out of Arizona and for me they are unknown until now. They have only been around since 2007, so they are relatively new. Typically mashups are comprised of top 40 and popular songs by artists like Goyte, Rihanna, and Skrillex. Massakerr not only gave me a new mashup, but more importantly a new artist/band to check out. Tune next week for the next edition of “Massakerr Monday.”

Tonight I am going to try to play with fire as I try to get Heavy Rock fans to become Electro fans. Clinton Sparks is either a genius or he has like 10 different musical marketers working like mad. It seems like every month we receive an email from Sparks’ promotional team and its always something way out there. This blend of club and rock can be a dangerous mixture to work with. The best way to describe this mix would be to simply label it as Electric Rock.

This video made me immediately look up Cypress and Rusko’s next tour dates. Unfortunately according to their official website there are no upcoming tour dates as of right now. The month of May should be a huge one for these guys as they are set to release their latest EP June 4th or 5th. The footage from this visual is from Cypress & Rusko’s performance at the Smokeout Festival 2012 back in March of this year. The performance including a guest appearance by drummer Travis Barker as it also marked their first Live display of their collaboration.

Prior to listening this remix I never heard the original “Chasing the Sun” track by the British band, The Wanted. Now being the well prepared music junkie that I am, the original and remix always have to be compared to one another. The original already has an upbeat get up and grab your lady club feel. The Wanted has the unique indie/club vibe that not many bands/artists have right now. Tantrum Desire, a London based duo that includes 2 DJ’s Jay and Devin, just finished up their tour in Canada on Sunday. Tantrum Desire is well known for their Drum & Bass repertoire as they have been conjuring up material since 2004. Straight from the get go on this remix they add a nice up hill build up that gradually leads to that addicting musical drug most people call “drop.” This one is drenched with UK influence along with a healthy serving of Bass.
